LESSON POLICIES
PRICING:
Private lessons:
Tuition is charged at a flat rate for the month regardless of whether there are four or five weeks in the month. This policy simplifies things so you will always pay the same each month.
The regular rate for 30 minute lessons is $120. per month.
The regular rate for 60 minute lessons is $220. per month.
Each calendar year has four 5-week months. This creates four “flex” weeks per year. Two of these weeks will be taught per usual as bonus lessons at no additional charge. The other two weeks will be taken off with no lessons taught. There will be a one month prior notice given to the two flex weeks off. Typically, it will be split between a week off during the winter holidays and a week off during the summer.
PAYMENTS:
Tuition is due in full in advance and must be received by lesson time on the first lesson of each month. Payments made after the 7th of each month will incur a $10 late fee.
MATERIALS:
Various books and materials may be assigned based on individual needs and levels and should be with you to use during each lesson. Other miscellaneous equipment may also be required and should be available at lesson time as instructed. Being well prepared for lessons facilitates learning, fun and reaching goals.
INSTRUMENT CARE:
You will learn to change your strings and care for your instrument as part of your lessons. Make sure your instrument is clean and in working order. Notify me of repair problems prior to lesson time so I can help resolve those issues. Waiting until lesson time delays learning. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
PRACTICE:
First and second year students should practice 20-30 minutes each day unless otherwise instructed.
Third year and beyond should practice at least one hour daily.
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
ATTENDANCE:
Regular and prompt attendance is essential to your success. As a student, you are paying for the instruction you receive from me. However, you are also paying for your time slot to be reserved specifically for you. Each lesson has a start time and an end time. Late arrivals maintain the same end time in order for the next student to be able to start their lesson at their reserved time.
Parents: All students under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout each lesson. This will help the child stay on task and the parents informed of what their child is working on. This policy also facilitates effective communication on all matters concerning lessons.
CANCELLATIONS AND MISSED LESSONS:
Cancellations are absences with at least 24 hour prior notification provided. This allows me to reschedule my time and possibly not lose income.
Missed lessons are absences without 24 hour prior notification and no-shows. These absences do not afford me the opportunity to reschedule and cost me that time. Cancellations will be offered make-up lessons. Missed lessons will not.
MAKE-UP LESSONS:
Tuition for all missed and cancelled lessons is due as usual and make-up lessons will be arranged for lessons that were cancelled with 24 hour prior notice. Monthly tuition is not prorated due to absences during the school year and no credits are issued for missed or cancelled lessons. If your lesson falls on one of these holidays ( Christmas Day, New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day) tuition is still due and make-ups will be arranged. Weather related cancellations will be made up. Absences during the summer months due to vacations can be prorated or made up. If I cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be arranged.
DISCONTINUING LESSONS & NO REFUND POLICY:
If you will no longer be taking lessons, please provide a one month prior notice. If you stop lessons in the middle of the month, the tuition paid for the remainder of the month will be forfeited. Your time slot is designated specifically to you and will need to be opened up for another student as soon as possible. No refunds will be granted for any payment towards lessons, whether or not lessons have begun.
